J. CHRISTOPHER DEEM, ESQUIRE
I attended The University of Michigan and then returned to my home town of Columbus, Ohio to go to The Capital University College of Law. I moved to Florida and became licensed here in 1984. My first job was to start up and run a Florida office for Barkan + Neff, the Ohio law firm where I clerked while in law school. I did handle workers' compensation and personal injury cases, but my larger area of practice was attending hearings and handling appellate arguments for social security claims. I was a partner, and managed the Central Florida offices until 1990. Next, I became affiliated with Prugh & Associates, which became Prugh, Holliday & Deem. I handled a large volume of civil trial work for personal injury matters, while continuing to represent social security claimants. I remained with the firm for 14 years. In August, 2004, I opened my own trial practice with the continued commitment to helping injured and disabled Floridians. Professionally, I am licensed in the State of Florida, the Social Security Administration courts, and the federal courts for the Middle District of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. I am a member of American Association For Justice, The Florida Association For Justice, and The Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers' Association. I am a Sustaining Member of The National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representatives (NOSSCR), and a past Chairperson of the Hillsborough County Bar Association's Social Security Section. I have lectured locally, including as a guest lecturer at the University of South Florida. In October, 2006 I also had the privilege of being a lecturer at NOSSCR’s national convention in Phoenix.
My wife and I have two sons and a daughter.
BEVERLY MEYERHOFF, PARALEGAL
Beverly has work with me for 19 years, including stints at each of my law firms. During that time she has handled all aspects of both social security and civil litigation. But, she most enjoys the social security practice, and therefore she is the lead paralegal for my social security practice. Beverly is married, and has four sons and two granddaughters.
TOBEY MAHONEY, PARALEGAL
Tobey has worked with me for 9 years. Prior to joining me, Tobey handled personal injury and worker's compensation matters with other law firms. She has added knowledge about social security claims while working with me. However, Tobey's experience and enthusiasm with personal injury cases has resulted in her becoming the lead paralegal for my personal injury practice. Tobey is married, and has two sons. |
